Brown Alge???

I'm having problems with brown alge. I just switched from CC to Live Sand. The CC had almost totally turned brown. There are also a few spots on the glass where there is some alge as well. And now the LS seems to be getting a brown tint. I have a small clean up crew...3 mexican turbo snails and one small turbo snail, However, they seem to be only willing to clean my LR and a little of the glass. My tank is only 29 gals so I wasn't sure if I needed more of a clean up crew or if it is my water. I have used tap water, but just got some RO water and will be adding some today, could that be the problem?

Diatoms. You are in a cycle. They go away or turn into green algea. What are your readings? Hermits will also help when the water is cycled and safe enough for them.

How long does it take for the diatoms to go away? Is there anything that I can get to speed up the process or should I just deal with it for awhile. I have some mexican turbo snails, but they seem to be very stationary right now. When I first got them they went nuts on my tank and ate all the diatoms except for the stuff on the bottom of the tank. What is the best thing to get to clean the bottom and do you think that there is something wrong with the snails? I had one die on me and the other three don't seem to move much. (they are pretty much in the same place on the glass in the morning that they were at the previous night). My fish and anenome seem to be doing fine so I didn't think that it was my water. Any ideas?

Put a piece of foam in your sump before your return and stir you ls or cc. About every other day take it out and rinse it out. This will help! :)
