Brown and white FOXFACE????????

Could a foxface turn brown from stress during shipping? I am at work but my room mate just received my package and said the fish is brown and white, not yellow. Could that be? Or would it be the wrong fish? He said it really small as well.

they are known to change colors drastically during shipping/stress ect but I dont think I've seen one all brown though I wouldn't say its not possible. I've seen plenty faded to nearly white though.

I have seen the little ones at my LFS turn dark brown when they are cleaning the tank they are in. After a little while they turn yellow again.

They do/can change color to different degrees for different reasons. Stress, defence, camafloge. nighttime, warning, ect.

mine did something very similar- after proper acclimation and time in tank he got back to normal color.
They are a "skittish" species, and will take awhile to become more comfortable in their new surroundings.

Some websites say to monitor in a reef. Our LFS says they're totally reef safe, & we've had our Foxface for about 5 months (maybe more?) & he's never touched any coral in the tank. GREAT fish & I'm glad the LFS suggested it instead of a yellow tang.

My experiences with them have been good in reef tanks.
My LFS has them in his and he doesn't have any problems either.
