Sorry to hijack the thread! I have one with white stripes and was thinking of posting in regards to his identity.. Are they just like any other hermit, just brown?
lol, he's my favorite and doesn't harm anyone, I just thought I'd inquire since you asked if his had stripes...

Are they at all fuzzy? (ie have little hairs on their legs?) If so, those typically grow bigger. Then 'best' hermits are the scarlets and 'mini' blue legs.

I think they are simple called white striped hermits. I have 8 of them in my 55g tank. They were the very first critters of my cleaning crew & still doing great. They have caused no problems with the snails i have in the tank. Actually they are non aggressive & they don't fight amongst each other either.
From what I understand they can get rather large & I think its getting about time to add some extra shells in the tank for them. I've had them for 7 months,... not bad for 99 cents each.
