Brown murky water

Hello all. I have a 15 gallon tank, with about 5 lbs of live rock in it. I also have 2 penguin mini biowheel filters, and a powersweep powerhead with the aeration hooked up to it. Right now i only have 1 damsel in it. about 2 months ago my water became very murky and brown. i have tried several things, but i can't seem to get rid of it. I've tried covering the tank and not exposing it to any ligth for several days, cut back on feeding, and done water changes. And lastly i've just let it sit, reading that in many cases the problem will correct itself. Ammounia and nitrites in the tank are nill, and my nitrates are about 10-15 ppm. Any suggestions on how to battle this would be greatly appreciated.

neither. the water itself is brown colored. I actually have very little algae growing in the tank.

My suggestion would be to get yourself some r/o water if your not using it already. Do a bunch of water changes and keep using r/o water.
