sounds like a diatom bloom which is normal in a newer tank or a tank that has had a lot of changes done to it.
it will pass in time what are your cycle readings at you might be able to add a clean up crew that will aid in cleaning it up.

yes it goes away but it takes awhile if you want i highly reccommend getting nassarius snails they help eat the diatoms and clean the glass, turbo snails are pretty useless if you ask me for just about anything, theyre a waste of money, but nassarius is the way to go. also- warning- dont get a sand sifting star. everyone tells everyone to do this, but they eat all the beneficial microfauna out of the sand bed.
GOOD LUCK

I would lower the temp alittle bit 76-78 is the ideal range anything over 80 can cause major problems. what is your salinity at?

No a buddy of mine said he has the same problem and he bought those plastic things you fill with water and froze them and he said he puts them in the back chamber but i am afriad the temp will then drop to low or flutuate too much and kill everything.

as long as you have a good thermostat heater you should be fine.

do you have a closed top or open to the air.
I dont like floating ice unless its a last resort myself it can swing the ph and effect the salinity at the same time.

not if you dont let the ice melt into the tank i always keep it in the baggie and once the baggies melt take them out and put new ones in.

yes but I have killed corals from this thawing. Its not the water going in.
Cold air and water is pushed down as the warmer water rises towards the top. salinity and temperature are dependant of each other so a change in temp with effect the salinity and give you a swing. also as the colder water flows down it will cause cold zones within the tank and anything that is in that zone will experience a major temp flucuation.
I didnt mean PH in the above post meant temp and salinity.
FWIW
