-9 tonight in Columbus, and we have about 6 inches of snow.
How long do you think your son kept his hat on?

I just could not handle it today and had to put shorts on, it was too warm for long pants.

Our schools are closed too, but it got this cold last year and they didn't close, so we must be getting more snow/ice tonight.

lol last year the official thermometer was covered in snow so it was only reading like 0 degrees when it was really like -30 so we still had school and there were reported cases of kids getting frost bite waiting for the busses so this year i dont think there taking any chances

I'm surprised our schools had sense enough to close, they never do. All of the schools in the county will be closed but ours sometimes, my kids get SO MAD.

I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area like DeMartini and the highs were in the low 70s, no winds, just sunshine. And that is why our real estate prices are so high.
For those of you in the extreme cold, it must be very frightening to think about what happens if the power fails.

We try not to think about that. Thank goodness my wife is a candle freak! We could keep this place warm for weeks.

We have a wood burning stove, so we would be okay, but my poor tanks...and my poor husband, he works for the power company so he has to work out in this crap.

yeah, like Alyssia... we've got wood burning stoves. no electricity needed ty vm - just the patience &wherewithal to lug bajillions of pounds of firewood from the stack in the yard into the house.
i used to love the winter.
then i bought a house.
can we please have spring now? please?

Mimzy I thought you loved winter!
i do. i DID. this ice though... and this treacherous driveway and the firewood and the mess and the cold and the salt and the having to walk up and down the mountain every time we need to leave and the not being able to make grocery trips b/c we have to carry everything up the driveway by hand..... and not 2mention the cost of everything...
it's all made me really, REALLY miss the spring.

2 degrees this morning, and I get to go out in the middle of nowhere to change out a car battery
. I am hoping the bolts are all rusted and corroded, so I get a better chance of frostbite
.
