^ You gotta be kiddin'! He was doing what he's supposed to do...look for the BALL! There's no excuse to have those stupid metal carts that close on the field like that. That's messed up.

They shouldn't have carts that close to the sidelines any way. This is a perfect example of why. Poor kid. Going all out to catch the ball and hurting his leg like that.

C-USA baby!!
Wow, I think Houston's head coach is going to eat that band director (if the comments are correct, and those were the band's carts) alive. Way too small of stadium/endzone to have that crap in there.
That was as bad as the long snapper for the Steelers on MNF. Anyone catch that one? Walking off, his knee went sideways...

I have to agree with you. Look a couple yards to the right. Had this dork run into the staircase, instead of the bright yellow cart, would anyone have wanted to sue the architect for placing the steps there?
I agree it's sad, but some responsibility has to lie with the person that ran into the cart. What if the carts were not there? He sprains an ankle on the incline and someone wants to sue the school over the hill being behind the end zone.
What was the QB doing throwing the ball 10 yds PAST the endzone?

^(saltnoob) That one comes in a close 2nd IMO. Surprising how he's come back and done pretty well from that injury ever since. Quite amazing.

Like I said, he's a WR and his job is to catch the ball. He was running in full speed turning back looking for the ball. You really think he can change direction that fast? Get real. If the carts weren't there...then no serious injury.

And if he had run into the staircase at full speed? What if he had run into a person, causing injury. You kinda need to know where you are on the field. (or in this case, off the field)
It's a shame that the carts were there, but I still feel that he should have been a little more aware of where he was.

10 yds? It was his second step truly out of bounds. That has got to hurt! When I tore my ACL my knee bent like McGahee's, but i almost guarantee that Houston player is in more pain!

It wasn't 10 yards, but the ball was still ahead of him until he was at the carts. The ball was thrown well outside of the end zone. The ball bounced off the cart.
watch the ball

Are you guys seriously kidding me? The 'what's if" about what woulda/shoulda/coulda?!?! Wow, watch a football game once, where there's a deep pass to the back of the endzone. The recievers always run way past the endzone.
The bottom line is, that Marshall has a terrible stadium, that was exponentially compounded by some moronic band student/director leaving those carts there. Notice how it was the visiting Houston player that didn't realize to stop, not the Marshall back...

Okay, watch a cowgirls game, where Romo overcooks one to TO out the back. It will be a lot further then the half stride this one was overtossed and TO's gonna run a lot more then that poor kid did...

he was aware of his surroundings...
arent all receivers aware of where they are, especially close to the sidelines for footing and dead center for the upright?
just sayin.

Sure. From the go route they are assigned in the play that was called, they instinctively know how many strides it is to the sidelines, how far it is to the edge of the endzone, etc, However instincts won't tell you some band tool put a metal cart dangerously close. Honestly, even if he fell IN
the endzone, he still would have slid into the cart. Or even running flatout to the back of the endzone, there's not enough room to slow down.
Here's an idea, anyone who thinks this guy wasn't aware of his surroundings, go to the longest hallway in your house. Take a friction of a second glance down the hallway, to whatever is at the very end, a wall, a door, etc. Run as fast as you possibly can, like your life mattered on it, and about halfway, turn your head over your shoulder and look back. Keep running flatout 110%, and try to stop within 1-3 feet of that door/wall with your head still turned back. Lemme know what happens...
