BTA and lighting question

I have a 55 gal. tank and just bought a BTA Tuesday and changed my lights from the stock lights that came with my tank to Nova Extreme T-5 lights (2-54 watt Slimpaq 460nm Actinic, 2-54 watt 10,000K daylight and 4 lunar lights) the same day. Now I have noticed brown algae growing on the glass and rocks. I currently leave my lights on for about 10 hrs. per day and know that I have to cut down on the amount of hrs. the lights are on to stop the brown algae from growing. So my question is how many hours of light does the BTA need per day to stay healthy?

Thanks for your help

the algae will subside, its normal to have a bloom when you upgrade lights. Stay on top of it and everything should balance again in a week or two

Thank you both very much for the quick response. I will continue to leave the lights on for about 10 hrs. per day unless the brown algae gets much worse. So far, the snails are doing a pretty good job of cleaning the algae off the rocks and glass.
