Alk is very important I would think that it could very well be a factor, what is you pH?

so i think i killed my anemone, i was deperate for any help and i found some advice saying that they pucker when theyre hungry and i have never spot fed mine since the day i had it. So i asked my LFS owner. he said to try feeding it something, and see. so i thought why not.
I asked if some cooked frozen.shrimp would be ok, and he said yes, that it would be fine. I fed a cooked peice of shrimp with it starting to eat it, o came home from work right now and it was all shriveled at the base...and a peice of that shrimp just hanging from its arms. Its all withered and now the foot is too. I took the piece of shrimp out off the arm in hopes and it looks like crap but better for now.
basic description, its all deflated. could this kill it?
omg i think i killed it!

when I spot feed mine they usually close themselves up after eating I think to didgest the food. Mine love shrimp (uncoked) they will actually take it off of the turkey baster and wrap the tentiles around it looking for more. Hopefully its fine maybe just didgesting its meal.

NEVER Cooked anything. I dont think it is harmful but its certainly not beneficial. If you intend to spot feed it their diet can be anything marine and raw, shrimp, clam, silver sides etc. I would not of spot fed it, IMO. It takes a lot of energy for them to consume pieces of food even the size of their mouth. Although they can do it, the amount of energy used to consume it is pretty much a wash to what the food gives them. They benefit more from smaller microns of food that the get from filter feeding. Pods and small planktonic matter are examples, if you want you can try some cyclops or mysis its small enough where they can eat it and not expend a ton of energy doing it.

Dont over react. The anemone appears to be in decent health. Yes the protruded stomach is a feeding response, but as PD said, dont feed it anything big, but do let it catch some (small pieces) food that makes it passed the anemone. I like to feed with a turkey baster and direct the squirt in my anemones direction. The fish will get most, but some will make it passed. Also a good food with many particle sizes will help in this situation. There was a recent thread on "the best food".. When that food was created, the creator had anemones in mind :)
