BTA Question ...

1 - What is the preferred BTA to clown ratio ?
2 - How soon is too soon ?
3 - What is their bio impact ?
4 - What are their lighting needs ?
5 - How big do/can they get ?
6 - How hardy (relatively speaking) are they ?
That should get me going !!! And, Buzz, I have prepared myself to see a post from you, so I'm ready for the avatar !!! :D

Well, I certainly wouldn't want to disappoint you...:D
1 - Preferred ratio - it depends on the size of the clown to the size of the anemone - if you have 4 clowns, and a small anemone, they may smother it. I would imagine 1 on 1 would probably be the best.
2 - How soon - once a tank is well established. Most will probably say 6 months. I waited 1 month, but was meticulously paranoid about my levels before that. And I understocked my tank with only one clown - no other fish.
3 - Bio Impact - Alive? Negligible as far as I have seen. If it dies? Get it out quick...it will toxify your tank.
4 - Lighting - debatable topic, that I am not the best person to answer about. I know what works for mine, but many will still say that it isn't enough, even though mine is flourishing.
5 - How big do they get - potential for big. Mine is about 8-10 inches in diameter, if not bigger. I've seen them at LFS' that had gotten as big as 1 foot+ in diameter. Some are only a few inches across.
6 - How hardy - As far as anemone's go, a BTA is probably the hardiest. But - that is only by anemone standards. All are fragile and need excellent water quality and a combination of lighting, meaty foods, and supplements.
Hope that helps.

Great answers Buzz, I hope that with the sale of your tank pending you'll still be around the board to help out :)
Later,
Paul
