bubble tip help!

Posted about this over on nano, but haven't gotten any advice. I put a bubble tip anemone in my tank last thurs. He looks like he is dyin for sure (hangin all slack, mouth droopin all over the place, looks like zoo being expelled) then a few hours later he looks great! Movin all over the tank tryin to find a home I assume, but he keeps falling off, especially when it attaches to tank wall. Is this ok? I turn into a panicky parent when i watch my anemone not attached (the first time he was doin somersaults around the tank) Tank is 10 gal nano, i have a couple false percs, some snails and hermit crabs, emerald crab, condylactus. Water parameters are good (ammonia/nitrite at 0, nitrate less than 20, pH 8.2, temp 78-80).

IMO and it just MO you should not have an anemonie in a 10 gl. tank. Espesily two of them. Thay will release chemicals that can kill everything.

have sunpac 50/50 40w. I have looked into other lighting, but don't know what to get as I am using a standard 10g tank and other lights I have looked at are going to be way too many watts per gallon. Condylactus loves the light (it is growin like crazy). LFS told me condy might eat my percs instead of hosting them, told me to get bubble tip. Usually they are pretty good about not selling me stuff just to sell it to me. I don't know what to do! Condy is doing really well and is cool looking so I don't want to get rid of it, but I want my percs to have a host (not that bubble tip is hosting yet).

ime anemones wil sometimes take a walk looking for a better spot to live. He could also be looking for a better light source, as your lighting seems a bit low for them.
2 in a 10 is dangerous. One is even not the best choice. IN that volume of water, if he dies it can wipe out a tank in short order. I cant say much as i have 2 in a 60, and I do rue the day one of them dies and I hope I am home to react in time.
But I couldnt help it, I love them. They are among my favorite sw creatures and I dont know why!
I do however have mh lighting and spot feed them occasionally since my damn clowns are a mated pair and just dont seem interested in them. :notsure:

My feeling is that anemone's are sensitive to changes in osmotic pressure (specific gravity)... In a small tank it is very important to make sure that you dont get too much swing of the SG due to evaporation. Good luck and keep us posted

I learned shortly after I brought home BTA that it was a REALLY bad idea (still disappointed in my LFS for not saying anything about it not being a good idea, usually my LFS is good). I added a 15w NO (type that comes with any 10g hood) as a temp fix, so i'm up to 5.5 wpg which is closer to where I need to be. Both anemones are up and down depending on when I look at them. BTA seems to be doing much better (havent looked at him and thought "yer dyin" since I made the post originally). So I don't know what to do. Right now, they both look totally content (BTA wont take me spot feedin it food yet, condy eats whatever i will give her). I know I should get rid of one (or both of them) as I don't want them to die or fight over vitamins and minerals, but I don't want to!!!! However, I bought BTA so my percs would have a home, but they aren't kickin in together yet (dunno if they will). gretzky im with you, i absolutely love anemones! I'm thinkin I'll prob get rid of BTA, and get some fuzzy shrooms for my percs.... :notsure:

ok so the condy is open one hour and close another? about how small??? 2in?? thats what mine was doin in my first tank. it would look great one min and crappy the next. it died with in a month. my sisters did the same thing. we didnt have enough lighting. yea get rid of the bta and get a toadstool or something with long polyps. mine loved the toadstool. never left it.

Returned BTA today....kind of sad about it, but better that than both of them dying. Luckily, LFS gave me store credit for half of what i paid for it.
