Bubbles coming out of skimmer?

I have a CPR Bak Pak 2 protine skimmer. It is a hang on. There are some bubbles that come out of the part that the water comes out of. is this bad or what? Do other people that have the same protine skimmer have this happening also?
Is there anything you have done for it? Or should I do anything for it?
Thank You

If it is new give it some break in time. It may do that for a week or two then straighten out, mine did. Also, if you add chemicals to the water it will likely do it for a few hours then as well. HTH. GL.

This one has been used for a while. it was used when i got it. It has been running for almost 3 months now. The bubbles are not that bad. It is just where the water comes out. The water hitting the water in the tank seem to case some bubbles. There also seems to be some very small particals or mabe bubbles alo that come out.

They sell a little bubble trap thingy that helps some as well. THe bubbles drove me nuts so I tinkered with everything until it finally broke in and they went away.

If I have added food close to the skimmer intake, because of the protiens that are in the food that I use I find that it will spit out micro bubbles for about 15-20 minutes.
I stopped feeding on that side of the tank and I have not had a problem since.

I dont even have any fish in there yet so no feeding is going on. it has been happening sence I set it up. There are some pretty good one right at the out opening from the water turning up there. Then there are a few little ones that come out more. I see they make a little box that goes over that out. maybe I should try that.

Hey,
It's fairly common. You can tinker with the airflow a bit until you fix the problem. As mentioned ealier, a lot of chemicals people add to their water causes a lot of micro-bubbles as well.
Here's a radical idea for you, and I may catch some grief for it, but I put my skimmer on a timer and only skim at night. I do run it during the day about once a week just so I can make sure it's working right. (I can usually tell just by the crud in the collection cup, but I like to be sure.) I have a lot of filter feeding corals and feather dusters so I don't want to skim all the time.
HTH,

Check your airflow, if its up too high it will throw alot of over airated water into the tank. Also mine always goes nuts during water changes.
