Ok so i have a 75 gallon with a 30 gallon sump and just had a quick question. My return pump seems to blow small bubble through into my dt and i just wnated to know if there is a way to stop this from happening.
I also had that problem before and I don't have enought water in the sump. I called pro-clear and told me to fill up to the second level of bio-ball I did and it stop.
Well my problem i think is that my sump is very cheaply done. i took my old 30 gallon tank and put my drain and return into it along with my protein skimmer and all this movement prolly produces the bubbles. i am going to try and get a sponge and see if that fixes the problem if not i will just buy a premade sump and switch over to that one.
No the water level in the sump is actually at the top of the tank. i am just using this tank for now i have decided to buy a professionaly made sump instead of dealing with these headaches and besides i will use the 30 gallon for my QT. I will just have to figure out how i am going to have to change the old sump out and new one in.
Wow, water level too high Bubbles aren't bad as long as they are baffled by a sponge or something. The bubbles aerate the water, but you don't want them getting into the tank of course. A sponge or anything like that between your return pump and tank should fix the problem.
OK so if i get a sponge and then just make a seperator of some sort then i should be all set. i am thinking maybe get some plexi glass and just rig it in the tank to aviod this issue.
The pexiglass itself may be enough, but otherwise yes, make a separator and put a sponge in there, will fix the problem and allow your water to aerate.
Awesome thanks for all the help with this issue. One more question though. How do i deal with salt creep. it seems like i have alot of it and i ussualy just brush it back into the sump and clean the area up. is this ok?
