Hello, latley I have noticed a large amount of bubble attaching themselves to my live rock and other items in the tank. Is this anything to be concerned with?
Thanks for your input!

Taken a few pics... Bubbles are not coming out well at all. Maybe a better description is in order. They are pretty large...maybe slighty more than a b b. and they seem to adhere to areas with a bit of algea buildup. Does that provide more clarity?

In my tank, everytime I see this occuring, it is followed almost immediately by an outbreak of red slime algea. (cynobacteria). I have been battling this stuff like the devil. The bubbles form, then the slime appears. I have almost beaten this junk, and it is no longer forming on the rocks, but it is still forming a little on the sandbed. There may be other causes, but that is the way it happens in mine. You may be able to search for red slime or cynobacteria on here and get some more clues as to whether or not thats what it is. For your sake I hope it is something else! Good luck! :)

Cha Ching! I just had a huge outbreak of the Res Stuff. I got in a pinch a fwe weeks aga and had to use about 5 gallons of tap water. Shortly afyter that the Red Algea appeared. Now, what do you do to beat the stuff. I rinsed off the rocks, and vacumed the sand. It seemed to have helped, but there is still some stuff around.
Thanks Salt Junkie!

As Logen32 said, it is usually a long process involving several factors. The causes of this stuff are primarily, low flow, overfeeding, lights out of spectrum, high phosphates etc... In other words there can be a lot of causes. The tap water you used may have been loaded with high phosphates. Water changes along with sucking out as much of the stuff as you can, should get you back on track, if that was the cause. In my case it was caused by several different factors, but I just about have it beaten now. Everyone says the red slime remover works great. I ordered some online, but it was back ordered and I haven't received it yet. I think the problem will be solved before it gets here. If the slime comes back though, I'm going to try the remover. Good luck with yours! :happyfish

Do you have a refugium with any macro algae? ie Chaetomorpha Sp.
If so then don't use that red slimer remover...
speaking from experience. It'll kill off the macros too.

Be careful that "reef safe" red slime remover is seldom "reef safe". Let me see if I can find the thread that tells a better way to remove it.
