bucket of Instant Ocean

LFS here in town was all freshwater but carried some saltwater supplies.
Was picking up a couple things a month ago, and noticed the owner building a whole new wall of display tanks. Asked what was up and he said he was getting back into selling saltwater fish again.
Anyways - it's only 5 minutes from the house, and his store is very nice.
This afternoon I stopped by on my way home and everything is up and running - looks really cool - he did all the work himself.
So I bought a bucket of Instant Ocean - makes 200 gallons - paid $35.00 bucks for it.
Is that a good deal ? Best I've seen.

Thats a good deal. I paid that online, but shipping 66 pounds of salt is never cheap.

Excellent price but I bet he goes up shortly (buy as much as you can) I have a deal at my lfs since I buy a bucket a month for 40 bucks most stores around here get from 50 to 65 a bucket. Plus look at all the cool buckets you will have (I have them all over the place and try as I may I can not give them away fast enough).

Looking at these prices it brings to mind that next to fish in my area salt is the next most overpriced item in some stores. Part of it is the area the store is in (if it is high end they go for the throat). Plus most people wait till they run out and then they just go and buy and don't shop around for it. Can't blame the store if they can get it it makes them more money then a lot of little sales. The prices tho on the net are very low if one can wait for it, the lowest I have seen in a few years (mainly Instant Ocean as that is all I use).

One of my LFS has IO for 10.99 for 50gal bag. Which is pretty good and NO livesand for 24.99 on a 20lb bag. But their fish are...well... lets just say I could fly to FL and catch them myself for cheaper.

Thanks everybody !
And Pufferlover, you may be right, he might be offering really good initial prices to get people in habit of shopping there, then after awhile slowly start to raise the price. Then again ... maybe not.
I'll take your advise and go get a couple few more buckets while the get'n is good ;)
And fender -
We're just two lost souls swimm'n in a fishbowl ... year after year :p

Another habit I have developed is that I keep enough salt on hand that if there were a major emergency late at night (all majors in this hobby are late at night aren't they) I would have enough to do all my tanks one time (that equates to 3 buckets sitting around and rotated as I use one up). If nothing else it gives me piece of mine and my lfs guy's cash register a warm feeling.
