hello
so i was wondering it is is bad to have thoos little bugs tht fly into ur tank at night anf u find them floating in ur tank.. maybe u dont have tht problem but my tank is near a door sorta and the bugs fly in the door and i find moths floating and all these different little bugs (not pods) floating..
is this bad.. or maybe a nutritious snacK?
maybe i should glass top the tank every night?

I think putting a glass top on the tank would get old after a while. Some bugs are poisonis if eaten such as fire flies, but I think little nats or small moths arent too big of an issue. Of course, if you happen to walk by the tank and see them than scoop them out, other than that I dont think they will hurt the tank in any way if some fly in. They make traps and stuff too which you could always invest in.

I bet. Not very appealing to look at. What about a breathable material that you can set over the tank... like a bug net for a bed.... heck, you could even buy a vail type material.
Seems like this would be easier and almost healthier for the tank if you just throw some cloth over the top at night.

home depot sells a fiberglass 4x8 roll of material for replacing screen doors. i've been using that to keep the bugs out and the firefish in.

Maybe you can hang a bug zapper outside your door. I have one and they reduce the local bug population considerably. You can get them from Walmart, Lowe's, etc.

I just scoop out the ones I find, and let my filtration handle the rest. my house is 107 years old or so, so it is far from bug proof, my 24hour light on my sump draws a lot of moths, honestly I never gave it a though untill now just a factor of living in maine in an old house.
