I am thinking about buiding a quite large tank for mainly sharks. it will be 14 ft, by 6 by 6. i am only planning on having 2 sides visible. sump and most equipment will be located in basement below the tank. i would like to use glass for the two sides but i understand that they will be extremely heavy and expensive. are the are +/- of acrylic over glass. any tips on construction would be greatly aprreciated.

The sump and most equipment below the tank!!!!!
What kind of floor do you have WOW that a lot of weight!!!!!
That size tank would be awesome How much $ do you think it will cost?

Acyric is cheaper and lighter and more clear then glass....downside is that it is less durable and can be harder to work with if you aren't familiar with how to cut it and put it together.

I saw this link from another site the other day.

The guy there might be able to give some more advice. He has a nice setup as well. No sharks though.

If you are going with a 5000 gallon tank it better be on a concrete floor otherwise you will be swimmming along with your fish. I wouldn't even trust that weight if you had steel beams.

you said your planning on a 5000 gallon hole in your floor.......right??
man!! put that thing in the basement! your only asking for problems if you put that thing in your livingroom or somthing!!!! ;) :D
