Hey guys hows everything doing :
I am drawing up plans for my tank cover , my tank stands is built and my 90 gal reef been running for a year . I no longer want a open top tank.
what I want to do is have the whole top lift up for acess to the lights at any given time ; but for feeding and cleaning tank I want a front flip down panel .
what Idea's do you have how to hinge it , for both the top and front panel.
materials are 3/4 birch( extra clean)
I will use fiber glass resin to coat the inside.
PS how high do you guys build your cover, I will use mh / flouresents.
all pic's will help

The board has been slow for a few days
anyway im going to make a top for my 140 plywood and glass tank too and i was thinking making it open two ways one was to open just the front half like any other top to feed and whatever i need to do and then hide points on the hood at all 4 corners so i can snap on a cable that will lift the top all the way up.
i have too work out the kinks but that was what i was going to try
and as far as painting the in side i have some two-part epoxy that i painted the inside of the tank with that's what im using

I have built exactly this for my wife's Nano Tank (20) Gallon. I used a piano hinge on the back of the top to open up, and took the front panel and split it with a saw the amount i wanted it to open up. I also used a piano hinge here as well. I put a catch on the front panel when it was up so i wouldn't have to worry about it falling.
Hope that helps.
