Building all glass 240!

First i got a question? What is Eurobracing? I know it beefs up the tank but i thought it was just the extra pieces they put inside to hold the panels together. Can someone explain? And im going to take one for the team. im going to build a 257 gallon tank and see if its cheaper than buying one. Its actual got cool dimesions of L 66'' X H 30'' X W 30''. The inhabitans are going to be a bamboo shark(havents decided on what kind of cat) ,100lbs live rock, most corals and probally yellow tang, bluetang, couple nice clownfish, and a snowflake eel. If the shark or eel eats the fish or invertabraes tehn ohwell its a shark tank first. I already plan on 4 1.5'' feed lines to a 70 gallon refungium/sump. The lines come from the overflows that im going to DIY baffle. Im going to DIY Top and Stand. Probally DIY Lights due to insuffiecent funds. Im already dealing with people about glass sheets. My girlfriends dad owns a glass place so it shouldnt be a problem. What im worried about is the bracing and how strong the silicon will be. Any suggestions would be nce. I think ill have two enclosed pumps for a closed circut. that alone should give lots of flow. Ohh and how think should the glass be? they recommend 12mm or 1/2 but that seems sketchy. Requiem any additional information about a sharktank would be nice. Do you think with a width of 30'' i can have a column of liverock in the middle? Ohh by the way this will be a two sided viewing tank with an island configuration. i made a pic on paint but most of yall seen this already. I am taking this for the team and will tell you how the sealing and bracing of the tank comes out. Peace out.

Euro bracing is done around the top of the tank.....it is done to avoid having to use the traditional black or whatever color bracing they put on traditional store bought tanks....Width of Euro bracing is dependent on if your having cross bracing or not....That is usually the reason people opt for Euro bracing.....I had my 240 done with Euro bracing and didn't want center braces, so to accomodate that the builder had to make the Euro bracing wider than he normally would.....1/2" would probably be ok, but I would check with a couple glass tank builders and see what they recommend, due to the height of the panels.....
As far as your bulkheads sound ok, but there is more to it than drilling holes and dropping lines....Your overflow box per say has to be able to skim that amount of water to feed them as well....In that size tank I'd say 4 1.5 bulkheads would be quite an overkill, but I'm pretty sure you have your reasons.....If your trying to get more flow through the tank due to the messy eaters you might want to consider drilling the tank for a CL system to get additional flow, and with the amount and size of bulkheads you'll have feeding your sump/fuge; you might run into micro bubble problems trying to push that amount of water through your system....JMO though!!!!!!!!
Tank dimensions sounds really cool, love the depth or width (front to back)....Lighting can easily be done...What type of corals are you planning or attempting to keep? I don't know if you honestly should have said if the sharks and eels eat everything ohhh well!!!!!! Why opt to attempt something of that nature and throw good money away and the other aspect of wasting good corals???? :notsure:
The tank should be strong if siliconed correctly, but I wouldn't attempt a project that big unless I've done some smaller tanks....That's just alot of water to have sitting there and then all of a sudden it cuts loose all over the place....Again talk to some glass tank builders and see what they say and recommend....Are you planning your overflow in the center of the tank, corners???? Check out Melevsreef.com he gives some good tips on sump building and will give you additional information you might be looking for...HTH :joy:

Um lets see. Im going to have the sharks because im a shark week and cant live without SHARKWEEK. On right now by the way. I will have a closed loop sytem actually probly 4 combined. Smaller pumps though. Maybe maxijet 240 or something i dunno i still gotta get the tank built. The problem im going to face is the shark of course. besides knocking over corals do sharks eat them? anyway im going to sleep. Thanx for the info on eurobracing. Im sure ill need it. Thanx
