your just starting!!! it takes a little time to get what you want out of your tank. just get rocks that you like (color, shape). then you piece your rock work together. I have 3 larger rocks next to each other and then i broke up a large rock and kind of pieced it together in different ways to see how i liked it. i saw with mine that i could make an arch, which looks really cool in a tank. i super glued the arch together so i could keep the shape that i liked. when you super glue rocks together it helps stability. the size and shape doesnt matter just pick out rocks that you think will look good. dont worry it will all work out in the end...this site really helps you see different things and gives you great ideas, so keep looking around at other tanks. i just want to let you know when i first came on to this message board my tank looked like crap! and that was only a month or 2 ago lol now i love my tank. people gave me great ideas to work off of...keep posting pics to show us your progress!!!! heres a before and after of my tank.

any super glue should be fine, i used krazy glue. Just make sure its the gel type. They also have a special approxy that you could buy at your lfs. Super glue was cheaper though

Krazy glue is safe? I would not have thought so. Thats good to keep in mind. DeMartini, your tank looks great! Just thought I would drop a post and say that! :jumping:

Realy. I have not come to the point of needing to glue anything, but I kind of thought the only thing safe for aquariums was Aquarium silicone. I was unaware that a regular hardware store glue would be ok. I actually thought that would be toxic. Thanks for the info on that!

my moms dentures were made out of an epoxy very very similar to crazy glue. the were grinding them down for her and it smelled just like krazy glue. And when adding ridges so they would fit better, they used some paste that smelled exactly like super glue. When it dries it's just acrylic. Only acetone and thinners like that will break it down.

I assume you have to pull the rock out of the water to glue it? I like the way my set up is now and it isn't the most stable but I don't want to pull it out since I put the rock down first and the poured sand around it to keep the base stable. IT's the upper that is less stable.
Also, I have these 3 frogspawn frags. One of them will just not stay put. Can I pull it out, put glue on it, then stick it on the rock and dry in the water?

no! you have to pull the rock out. Dont put super glue in to the water....it wont work. you should make sure the glue is dry before you put the glued parts back in the water.
