Built-in overflow help

I just setup a new tank a friend gave me, it has a built-in overflow, I can not beleive that it should be this loud, sounds like a waterfalls, I want to believe I set it up wrong, but it is almost fool proof, I remember reading about some kind of stand pipe or something that might help, I know there are alot of people out there with this setup, please help. Thanks for the info in advance.

yeah i know what you need a durso stand pipes i bet your stand pipes are very low is that right ? or do you even have stand pipes?

You are right there is not a stand pipe Tell me about this durso stand pipe, and am I going to have to tear everything down to install? Thanks for your help, I have never had a tank with a built-in overflow before.

One thing you can do is go buy a piece of pvc pipe from your hardware store. Not sure on the size but it has to fit into the bulkhead at the bottom.Run it up about 2/3rds of the way. Then have your sponge or whatever there.
