built-in skimmers?

Does anyone have any opinion on skimmers that come built into the wet/dry filters. I'm looking at 2 diff brands and wonder if I should just get the wet/dry w/o the skimmer and then buy a seperate skimmer

i have one, not sure of the company
its a wet/dry and it came wit like a smart custom made skimmer, but its not built in, its removable

I guess saying built-in is decieving. I'm looking at an Aqualine wet/dry that comes with a skimmer and an Proclear that comes with a skimmer. I found them on a popular auction site. they are basically package deals so that it works out that the skimmer ends up costing 50-75 dollars. Would I be better to spend that money and then some for a Berlin Classic or an ASMG 2? Which of these is the better buy? There is about 100.00 diff in cost (ASMG is more expensive).
