my return bulk head fittings are off by a 1/8 or less , a guess
the ones I had where smaller .The new ones I bought from foster are 1/8 to 1/16 off, the out sider diamenter . the problem is
there is water in the tank and rock. If I grind down the threads and just silicone to the wall will that work, or am I going to come home wearing rubber boots. the bulk heads are 1/2 , if I grind the glass hole am I going to be picking up ( you fill in the blank)
Anyone know of bulk head suppliers, some outside dia are diffrent,
the thickness of the wall.
thanks

don,
yes all bulkheads are a little different that is the pain about them, yes if u start grinding u know what is going to happen, as far as the thread well even if are off 1/16 .0625 the deapth of thread depending on size is going to be .032-.04 per side u might get away with it hard to tell, if u have extra bulkhead i would def try it
.

Having played the "let's see how many sizes of 1.5 inch bulkheads are made" game for the last few months, I can sympathize with your situation. What is the precise measurement of the hole you're working with? I would not really suggest using silicon to force the square peg in the round hole.

Don, I checked the sources I've used in the past and none of them have any bulkheads that will fit in a 1" hole :( I'm sorry, my best suggestion at this point would be to try to locate the original tank manufacturer and see if they can give you any help.
Sorry bout that guy,
Paul

Hey Don,
You might try U.S. Plastics - they have a good selection of plastic bulkhead fittings.
They're just an hour South of me in Lima Ohio.
Huge place - lots of choices.
Call them !

Whats up broomer " Happy Halloween"
I just placed an order with us plactic should get it
wednesday. I did not see bulk heads but I will look again.
I am building a wet dry , great design I came up with . I ordered
these 1/4 channels and angles that are clear.I have been practicing glueing acrylic to get a clean strong joint, hey it takes time but it almost looks top shelf. So I am useing these clear corners to join the pices together, it will look real good , these can be used for anyone trying to build any aquarium projects, just a little glue in the channel weld -on 16. they come 2 way 3 way 4 way , great to make dividers in a sump. I am makeing a wet dry that is free standing and just seats in the sump , no glueing to the tank, also the wet dry is taller then the sump, so
my protein skimmer is much easyer to get to. 20 long , 30*12 *12
my stand has limited space 45 inside by 23 high . one day I'll take a pic.(hey you didn't ask this question but I guess I got carried away
take care

grinding wheel sounds good , do you think the vibration will have a chance to crack the tank, there is aleast 3/4 fill, if I take out most of the water will it screw up my system , its about 1 month old.

If its an AGA all you hav to do is get an overflow kit from your LFS... AGA is a pain with things like that, but it should work if the tank came pre drilled.

thanks but I had someone come over and drill the holes but I changed the type of plumbing on the tank to pvc pipe instead of clear flex so I had to cut the bulk head it was glued on with cement.
thanks for the info

Anytime :)
I drilled my sump fpr a little giant connection and left the hole a tad to large.. luckily i found a rubber gasket that was a little bigger then the bulkhead one so that combined with allot of glue plugged it up!
