I was just wondering what people's experiences have been with buying coral online. It seems like a bad idea to me, but the prices can be so cheap it might be worth exploring. Any thoughts?
Why would it seem like a bad idea...other than not getting to see them up close and personal before making the purchase? Which by the way is what I prefer to do...check them out in person. Still...purchasing on-line is not a "bad" thing...how do you think your LFS makes their purchases. They get stuff shipped in all the time...haven't seen the stuff in person...and their product normally seems fine.
My online sources (Including this site)have better quality livestock then my LFS's. And yes my LFS's receive their shipments via Fed Ex. Of course there is nothing wrong with buying locally, which I prefer to do, but my LFS tends to order the same things over and over. Lots of variety online.
the corals i received from this sight have done well. but one thing you may consider is the coral might be cheeper. but the shipping can more then make up the cost difference. if you buy online it is better to buy more then one at a time. or use this sight which is free shipping if you buy at least 75$ worth.

Well SWF is the only site that I know is worth buying online cause the shipping. Other sites just charge a grip on shipping where its not even worth it. And yeah if you gonna buy online its better to spend at least 100 dollars worth of stuff instead buying just one thing. The only advantage of a LFS is that you get to choose what you want.
Thats about what I figured, less choice, and the bigger the volume, the more economical the shipping. Should I arrange for someone to be there to get the coral when it arrives? How do people work recieving them?
