Buying Equipment

I just bought a skimmer and heater,i also have some powerheads. Next I'm going to go buy Salt mix,test kit,Thermometer, and Sand. Anyone have any suggestions on what brands to buy and to avoid or anything else i should buy? Thanks! I will be able to start cycliing my tank after this

Sailfert test kits are the best. Id go with them. Salt i like Instant Ocean and Oceanic. Both are good IMO. I use IO now because it was on sale. Thermometer, id say a simple digital sticker type is good, that has never failed me.

Oh and im getting a new lighting fixture in the future before i start buying corals. I was thinking of T5s (Found a Nova Extreme Lighting fixture for 244 bucks). Or should i go with a PC fixture? I'm not too familiar with T5s. But it's in my price range and I've heard they're better than PC. Any suggestions on that?? Thanks again ppl!

never had any experiance with those i do like my VHO set up that i have. I got an ice cap 660 with 300 watts for my 29 gallon with everything for about 300 with shippign and everything. From what i was told that was a good deal. But if i was you i would look at maybe MH lights they seem the be the best out there.

have u looked at an ice cap system? that way later on down the line if u upgrade you can still use all the same stuff. like the ballast and end caps and wireing and stuff like that all u need to do is buy diff bulbs.
