Buying Live Rock From SWF.com

Has anyone ever bought live rock or live sand from this website ( i am going to assume yes)? If so, can you please tell me what else i must do after recieving it at my home. They say it is "precured" which mean i should do what after recieving it? Same goes for live sand, what should i do with it?
Thanks,
Kevin

It may be pre-cured but you will have to do it again as shipping does cause some dieoff.
If you are putting this in a tank with fish and inverts I would re-cure it and then put it in the tank.

I ordered from this site and just washed mine off and put it right in the tank looks fantastic and would recommend it to anyone.

Good to know. So if you rinse thoroughly and make sure you get all dieoff off of the rock it is ok to just add to the tank?
Thanks

actually i am starting a 125 gallon tank from scratch and the tank just got filled with r/o water and now i am off to buy live rock from this site (if it ever comes in stock). Then i will cycle the live rock and tank and hopefully be able to add sand in a couple of weeks and fish within about a month. what about live sand from this site too? Any acclimation techniques or just add it right in?

Rinse it really good maybe use a toothbrush "in saltwater" and you will be good to go.I have had mine up and running for 5 months and its covered with purple and pink coraline.Good luck with it

so you are saying if i am just starting a tank do not cure it... doesnt sound right... i have seen that you should just cure it in my tank... is this true?

yea, if you're just starting your tank...don't cure it..
just put it in without curing.
it will help cycle your tank

If you are starting a new tank then add it to the tank after cleaning it if you are adding this rock to a tank that is already established then you will need to cure it in a second tank. For maybe a few weeks mine did minimal spiking but to be safe keep testing your water and you will be fine.

I bought 100 lbs from this site and it was great. My base rock is now covered in purple coraline. Check out my diary, post #220 to see what it looked like when I first got it. I also bought 20 lbs of live sand, do NOT rinse this. Just add it to your tank. If you have dry sand you definitley want to rinse it before adding to your tank. Again, I have exactly what I did on my diary thread.

I bought both live rock and live sand from saltwaterfish.com and started my biocupe 8 with them. I didn't rinse the rock and just added it and the sand to cycle the tank. there was basically very little cycle, a slight rise in amonia and even slighter rise in nitrites within a few days and then it was cycled. that was about 5 weeks ago and the tank numbers have been perfect ever since.
good luck, and i wouldn't rinse it - just let it cycle your tank.

Kev, as others have mentioned, if you are starting the tank you may want to rinse it in satwater first (not fresh) but if it is going into an existing set up then be sure to cure it in a tub first.
