I am shoping around to find a tank need some advice I am thinking on the size of
60x24x36 or 60x30x36 depending on the price I am think that I want 3/4 inch aqrylic
also should I have one big over flow on the back or 2 on the sides.
should I have a sump/fuge combo for filter or a closed system with cannister filters
thanks for the advice

hey congrats on the new tank ur setting up, sounds like it will be nice. I also enjoy acrlyic tanks, anyway I would get dual overflows that would seem to be be able to give you more options for flow options. I also would go with the sump/fuge setup. I did and have been very happy w/the results. Good luck! One suggestion though is if u can get the back of the tank in black do it, im way glad I did, also the baffles in the fuge.

I would encourage you to reconsider the 36" height. That's awfully tall for working in a tank, and it's likely that you wouldn't be able to reach the back at 24" or 30" width.
Plus, there is a good chance that 3/4" acrylic will bow on a 36" tall tank.

I too am getting a new tank, but am concerned about the acrylic with live rock. What happens when the rock scratches the tank on the inside if it falls (which it always does) especially when first setting up the tank? I just worry that I would regret buying a big tank only to have it scratch up. Am I wrong?

u scratch it u buff it ;) they sell kits w/very fine wet/dry sandpaper that polishes the scratches out w/the tank full.
Good call rob, I didnt notice but I totally agree that a 3 foot tank will be a pain to keep clean/work on. My old one at 30 was a pain, doable but a pain.

Sorry to jack the thread.
I have buffed twice so far. Unless you are either really uncordinated and mess with your rock a lot, or set it up unstable and it tumbles no. If your careful w/the magnet algae scraper not to get sand in it while cleaning the tank it shouldnt be an issue.
