:scared:  When you stop and think about it your not saving any money or time.......You have the expense of gas, time, muscle and wear and tear on your vehicle and the "not knowing" what your actually getting as you've seen. What if the store is closed for whatever unkown reason? or you develop a need at an odd time for an emergency water change????? Your SOL...............How do you know if the store is keeping up with the maintenance of their units as they should?
I built a 6 stage 75gpd RO/DI unit, with dual TDS to monitor incoming and outgoing water quality. The unit also features a booster pump with prefilter and regulator as well as fast flush system and gallonage gauge that can be reset to check gallonage out of unit.......Honestly when you factor in all your time and such your not saving any money.....The unit price might seem high, but it will pay for itself shortly.....Email me and I'll break down the parts needed to build a nice unit, and give you all the part numbers and contact need to build the unit.......I'd put my RO/DI unit up against the stores anyday........

I for one would never abitrarily dump unchecked premixed salt water into my tanks. Most shops will have it at 1.020 or 1.023 or even 1.026 and tell you or have on their invoice to check SG of water and adjust if needed before use. They nmormally stock a common denominator od saltwater which can be adjusted to meet more than just that SG so FO or Reef tanks can use it. Most places carry water which is higher so you just need to add RODI to it and no need to add salt.
I have three of the RODI units now off the auction site, and all three are perfectly capable of providing just as good of rodi water as the more expensive units are. My filters run me 18 for a change of 3 filters, and 22 for a resin change.

No doubt the units are ok on the auction site.....I just don't care for the big 100gpd units, because they don't offer the rejection rate of a 75gpd unit......

I am looking at the typoon 3 I have seen on the internet.......seems like a good value. After reading this, I am realizing trusting your water source is asking for trouble........sounds like it is better to make your own; even if it is not cheaper.

Walter from AirWaterIce is a super guy and good to work with and sells a super product at a very reasonable price......Making the unit is hard at all and for the stuff that's out there I refuse to give these companies that kinda cash when you can sit down and do it yourself.......

I agree the 100 gpd may not be the best, but it all depends on who yu buy it from on the auction site. One company gladly install whatever rate membrane you want for no additional charge....My first RODI was rated at 100gpd, and after talking to them they told me it was not a problem to sub the membrane which they did at no additional cost....so that alone makes it feasible and a money saver as well.

Instant Ocean $33.00 for pail that really does make about 150 gallons. RO water here is .39 cents / gal. Works out to about 61 cents per gallon and as stated earlier YOU mix it yourself and hopefully TEST it your self and then you KNOW what you are using.
If you have a grocery store that has the spray mists over their produce they are using RO water in the system. If they don't sell RO water normally then ask to buy it from them and most will sell it to you.

Go to Warehouse Market - Fills faster than anywhere else in town.
And I am in the phone book - D. Cook or business Cook's Painting!
Looking to possibly start a Salt water Club. I know of 8 to 10 reef tanks here in town. Call - stop by - love to trade stuff!

DeJaCo,
Let me know about the Saltwater Club I am interested, thanks for the tip on RO water I will go there from now on for water, and as soon as things slow down a little at work and home I will get ahold of you about getting a look at that tank. My email address is Natclanwy so you can let me know about the Saltwater club, don't have much to trade right now but hoping maybe my kenya tree will be large enough to frag in the next month or so though.
