Caffeine Detox?

Anyone ever detox from caffeine?
This is my 3rd time doing it and I'm juuuust entering the really....REALLY...crappy phase. No caffeine since 4:00pm yesterday.
I'm going to really try to kick it for good this time. It's so rediuclous how dependant on it I've become. I get horrible headaches and turn into a massive fire breathing green monster if I don't get my frappucino/diet coke/latte on time.
Who wants to be so dependant on something external? And who wants to keep shelling out cash for a fix?!?!
Ugh. Please tell me I'm going to feel better. I've done this before...I know the ickiness ends, but that doesn't mean I BELIEVE it, u know?
Lord let me

Thanx Ru. I appreciate it. I hate this.
I hate everything right now. U know how it is.
I wrote this;
Lord please forgive me for whom I am about to snap at. Let them know that I am detoxing and let them understand and look upon me as I am; A recovering addict. Let them know that the poison is loathe to leave my body and that I am wracked with it. Let them see. Let them take my condition to heart and take measures to save themselves. Let all see me and understand; caffeine is an addictive drug, and no one should ever have to become dependant on something external and frivolous.
Lord let me get through this.

Not to be unsupportive of your rehab or anything but DON'T DO IT!!! My coffee is the only good part of mornings. Caffeine's not evil, it's your friend. I'll tell you what, the first one is on the house.

i've never " needed " any product for anything...i've never gotten head aches from coffee/pop (from not having it) ...but again ...i dont drink either on a regular basis...i maybe have a pop every couple weeks
but i've read it can take up to a week to be removed from your system,
and smoking can take up to 2 months

on a bright note, crack can be dropped in 3 days. ;)

Took me a week to feel "normal" when I decided to quick drinking a 6 pack of Dr. Pepper everyday... I occasionally will drink a "coke" (any carbonated, caffeine drink is called "a coke" in the south), but now it often makes me feel ill afterwards... especially a large dose of coffee. That tries to kill me for hours.
Caffeine definitely is a toxin...

Squidd, ur insane

Thanx 4 the support everyone...last night was really hellish. I've got a blood sugar issue and I get migranes a lot, so being dependant on caffeine was a serious problem for me.
I did end up getting a migrane last night, but it wasn't a huge one, and the meds I take ARE vaso-constricting, but they DON'T have caffeine in them, which would have seriously been an issue.
Ugh, I was just in pain EVERYWHERE, and it felt like the muscles in my neck were trying to bust out the sides of my head. Oh, and did I mention the mood swings? Holy Lord I was INSANE. I was blowing bubbles for our kitten to chase when the bubble solution ran out...and I started to CRY!!! Like...not just sniffles, seriously sobbing. My Husband thought I'd lost it. Poor man didn't know where to put himself.

We were both astounded at how bad it was, but today seems a bit better...so far. I'm just kinda fuzzy today, and my stomach isn't so happy. Good thing we've got lotsa veggies in the house and I'm practically DROWNING myself in water.
Journeyman - what IS it about Dr. Pepper? B4 they diagnosed my blood sugar issues, I was also addicted to that stuff. My Husband says it's b.c they put cocain in it

Oh, and Jcrim - I too LOVE coffee, but when it goes from enjoying a 'cuppa' in the mornings to NEEDING at LEAST 50mg of caffeine every few hours on pain of horrible moodswings and even worse headaches, it's not so fun anymore.

I had caffiene withdrawal really bad especially when I used to be in the military and we got to go to the desert..... Coffee and caffienated drinks dehydrate you big time, so they were not a priority. But the withdrawal sure was bad for some time......BUT we all made up for it once we were heading back stateside, especially if we happened to go through Germany and have a layover for a bit, we used to run downtown and get some good strong coffee.........I can take caffienated soft drinks like coke etc and never miss them, but coffee is another story. I actually had less withdrawal problems when I quit smoking than having to curb the coffee for a time.

Hheheh, Devaji, if I could afford a massage right now then I would still be drinking coke

One reason I decided to detox is that we're moving next month and we have to cut our expenses....like....insanely, so I figured not having to hit up Starbucks every day or shell out for cases of soda would save us loads of cash.
That wasn't the only reason, of course. I'm sitting here all icky and looking back on how unbelivably BAD I felt yesterday, and I'm just...aghast. I think this is it for me for good. How could I POSSIBLY allow myself to put something in my body that will ultimately make me feel THAT BAD??? I'm going to restrict my caffeine intake to VERY special occasions. And it's going to be sticky for a while too - it's so tempting to get decaf stuff, but even decaffinated drinks have significant amounts of caffeine in them. A cup of decaf coffee still has about 50mgs in it (regular has anywhere from 80-350mgs), and decaf tea has about 12mgs, depending on the brand. There ARE some teas that naturally just don't HAVE caffeine in them - like chamomile and green teas, so I'll stick to those. I love tea anyhow

Chip - I can't believe u had worse withdrawl from caffeine than from cigs!! That's amazing.... Kudos to you for kicking that habbit tho. Now if only I could get my Mom to do the same...
Oh, and thanks for serving - there ARE those of us out there who commend you for what you do!!

Jer, I don't know what you're talking about.
Blue - yah, I found out this morning that the green tea with chamomile in it that we've got does have caffeine. Its so weird...I used to get this stuff from the Chinese market in my old home town that was naturally decaf. I guess I'll have to hunt around for some more.
Good news is, my favorite peppermint tea IS decaf - I've had like....eight cups today.
Don't worry, when u WANT to quit, you will. No one ever sucessefully quit ANYTHING unless they really WANTED it. ...And even THEN it's hard. ...But by no means impossible!

To be caffeine free is a noble gesture Mimzy. You can do it! You are past the difficult part by now. If you keep a positive attitude, get plenty of exercise and eight hours of sleep every night and you will never feel like you need caffeine again!
:joy:

Thanx Bone )
Actually, a friend of mine who'd quit smoking told me that doing yoga might help me. I don't know why I never thought of it before...I did a 45 minute DVD that I had and oh my GOSH I felt like a different person. I didn't even have the weirdness in my neck this morning when I woke up! There's still a whole day left to feel icky, but for now, I feel GREAT! :jumping:
Hey, I used to pass PCOM on my way to school eeeeeeveryday. I used to live on the main line and had to take Route1 to go to school up in the northeast.
Ahh to live in Philly again....
