My LFS told me to buy some chemicals to put in my water to maintain the calcium where it should be for corals. My calcuim levels are fine right now...Do i still need to add these chemicals? I would prefer not to.

NO.
In most cases, simple water changes are enough to replenish calcium. Reef tank chemistry is a balance - no need to srcew it up if your levels are already sufficient.
Testing is key - if you do need an additive down the road, you'll know it - and you'll know how much.

If you're practicing good water changing habits, you will be ok until you start getting alot of stony corals..
2 part does help keep the pH stable though...
once you notice that the system starts using alk, mag, and calcium very quickly i.e. drops from 12dKH to 10dKH (or worse) in a day... time to definitely start dosing two part lol..
