Does High Calcium and High Phosphate levels harm fish?
The reason I asked is that I set up a coral only tank with no fish. I tried to recently add some fish and they died the next day. All levels are normal except for calcium and phosphates.

calcium 400- 450
alk 8-12 (9-11 for reef tanks)
PH 8.2- 8.4
If your calcium is that I would take an educated guess that your alk is high too. I would get a salifert calcium test and use it. Don't the red sea tests just give you normal or high test results. depending on what types of corals you have this can be detremental to there health.
