calcium dosing

just started with a few corals that require a higher demand for calcium. not sure im ready for a reactor yet, but i would like some info on them...brands, cost, etc. in the meantime, what do you all suggest for supplimentation? products? diy? thanks

calcium reactors can get very expensive and can be a pain in the butt sometimes. ive seen plenty of beautiful sps dominated reefs without one. b-ionic is a popular two part additive, one is for alkalinity, and the other is for calcium.

You can also make your own and it is a lot cheaper that LFS stuff.

B-Ionic two part additive, Salifet Calcium Test Kit & Salifert Alkalinity Test Kit.

a timer, a bottle turned upsidedown with tight lid and a dripline with an adjustable nozzle. That's all you need.
you have to know the exact amount of cal. you need to add and adjust the timer and the dripline to fit the need.

have any pics of this set-up? im a little confused as to how it all works..
