Call me stupid, but...(Seaclone Skimmer)

I just hooked up the SeaClone 100 skimmer. Can anyone please explain how to adjust the venturi knob/water level for this thing? I understand that you either twist it left or right, but how much?
Thanks,
Den

their should be a marked waterline on the skimmer just adjust the venturi until you hit that mark most venturis go up and down while the air valve is left and right the air valve adjusts your bubble size you want the smallest bubbles possible

Should it be noisy? Lots of bubbles? Or should it be quiet, no bubbles? If I open the venturi, lots of bubbles, noisy, and lots of little bubbles going back into the tank (It's hanging on the back) If I close it, no bubbles, no noise.

Definately supposed to be lots of bubbles in the chamber and some in the outflow tube is normal too. It IS the bubbles that takes all the "crap" to the collection cup as qwiksilver said....

Ok, I think I'm getting this. So the venturi valve should be open (but not all the way) until there is foam in the center of the collection cup (I assume it should bubble over the top and into the collection cup) Is there a length of time it will take for the foam to build and start spilling the crap over into the cup?

I hope you get this figured out, and you don't face too many problems, because my friend and I just ordered seaclone skimmers offline, I got a 150 gal, he got the 100, and we are doing FOWLR tanks. You find a lot of people on here opposed to sea"clowns" as they're referred by members, but I think for nonreef tanks, with the other regular water changes, powerheads, and filters, the seaclone will serve its purpose well. Hope we are all satisfied with em!
I also have read the skimmer emits less noise after being broken in.

I know that the bubbles are supposed to fill the inner tube, rise up and spill the crap in the collection cup, but I can't seem to get the bubbles to go that high. Any suggestions? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

ok guys. I hve a seaclon 100. I wish I had bought something better but since we are already stuck with it lets make the best of it. If you are just setting it up I think close the venturi and open it 1.5 turns. Then let it run for a day. After that if you need to open it a half turn at a time. I think the best thing to do is to make an adustment then let it go for a few hours or even till the next day and then see if it is worse or better and make further adjustments. The worst part about this skimmer is you will be cleaning it out all the time. Mainly the power head and J tube if you have it hanging on back. I have found when I put mine in the sump and removed the sponge and j tube it works much better.

I just took a gamble on a Seaclone 100...Got it for $10.00 new...
I put it ON the 10 gal sump on my 20 gal Nano reef...
I read the instructions, twiddled with it ...read the instructions, twiddled with it some more and then read the instructions again and said OH, I GET IT...:D ...
Open the air valve all the way (take it out) You should see large air gaps in the "J" tube ...TOO much air not enough water.
Then close it all the way <bottom out> you should see solid water
clear in the "J" tube...TOO much water not enough air.
Then open it back up between 3/4 and 1-1/2 turns until you see solid foamy water in the "J" tube (no air gaps) Just Right. Mines about 1-3/4 turn.
The leave it run for a day or two to "break in" and depending on your Bioload it "Should" produce a good quantity of sticky dry foam that spills into the collection cup...
Slight adjustments from there and mine seems to work fine.:D
Watch the "MIX" in the "J" tube, as foamy as possiable without air gaps, and it should start to produce for you.

Keep an eye on the little cyclone thing. The Seaclone is a little different in that you may not want the whole tube full of bubbles like say a CPR BakPak. If the cyclone is nice & tight for the first 3-5 inches I think it works pretty good. At least that's the way mine used to work.
