Calling all Eel Owners

So got a question. I am setting up my 75 gallon and am new to salt. I have a post on here I started yesterday talking about converting my African tank to Saltwater. At any rate this is a fish related question. So I want to some corals in about a year. After I have gotten somewhat used to dealing with salt. My girlfriend wants an eel. I wouldnt mind one either. Is there any eels out there that wont eat or mess with inverts? If not how do eel owners have janitors in there tank? How do you take care of the algea issues and blah blah. Know what I am asking?

Right now I have a yellow headed moray, durgeon trigger and harlequin tusk fish with a strawberry hermit crab, which is pretty big and i have a few small hermit crabs. The fishes and eel supposed to be invert killers, but they do not mess with the hermit crabs at all. They will definitely eat shrimp but the hermit crabs are safe, especially the real big ones.

You should be okay with snails and hermit crabs. I had turbos and nassarius snails with my snowflake. I also had blue leg hermits. The hermits did disappear in time. I'm pretty sure the eel got them as they outgrew and discarded their shells.

Thats what I was hoping to get was maybe a snowflake. Hmmm I really want some shrimp to though too. I guess for now the shrimp will just have to wait.

cleaner shrimp tend to get a free pass. I had a fimbriated eel that will eat everything except hermits and snails. snails wont get messed with. other shrimp like sexy shrimp or peppermint shrimp will get eaten. Id do cleaners.

Is that your eel. those pics look crazzzzy. if your gonna add cleaner shrimp, let them be the first in the tank.

Bound to drizown...
Way to much for such a smaller tank.. The last thing I would worry about it the inverts...

The fish are about 3 - 4". the moray is a foot long. I plan on upgrading by the end of the year to a 210g. Found a good price on one. They all get along pretty well, no problems. should i worry?

I wouldnt. I got my snowflake when he was like 6", and all was ok. Now he is like a good 3' and WILL eat the whole clean up crew, and I feed him to much already. Emerald crabs are his favorate, and snails are next, the cleaner shrimps last a little while but do disappear before there life span. They get BIG so for a 75 he will own the tank. I am upsizing my tank and when i do the switch the eels gone. For your clean up crew question, the eel wont eat them all right away, I'll get a dozen turbos and they'll last 2-3 weeks maybe, snails hide better so they last a little longer, just keep buying them. I also had my LR on top of 4"-6" of live sand and he messed it all up, the rocks are on the bottom of the tank. My wife has the same issue, she sees something and just wants it, she just dropped a sea apple in my tank because it looks pretty... im just waiting for that gernade to go off.
It will restrict what you can do. Corals are out-He knocked all my corals over everyday or buried them, they are strong, I have a rock that is about 60lbs and he moved it
