she's super sweet and super helpful - bajillions of useful tips and info tidbits in every video.
as for stuff I actually use - i love nutrogena anything, as i happen to have hypersensitive skin and their products are never heavy and never give me a problem.
one of my fav quick tips for going out.... groom your eyebrows. a well groomed eyebrow is a facelift in five minutes and i am SO serious. there are plenty of vids on youtube about doing this properly.... just be sure to NEVER OVER-TWEEZE. When in doubt, grow it out.

cheap makeup is satan in a covergirl bottle. invest in good stuff, and youll look and feel a lot better. if you wear coverup or foundation, pat it on with the tips of your fingers, (never rub or smear it on!) and then blot gently. use your ring finger to gently dab it under your eyes. (ring finger's the weakest, wont pull the skin) another good thing to splurge on is mascara, you get what you pay for. kiss me by blinc is amazing, but runs like $26 for a tube. oh an i agree with mimzy on the tweezy thing. i do mine every morning. get some good tweezers and a magnifying mirror, but occasionally check a regular mirror to make sure you arent going crazy. youre eyes are the focal point of your face, so a good pluck works wonders.
of course, the best beautifier is a smile! inner beauty, grrrl!

oh. i believe it is right at the lashes. you want it as close as possible to keep it looking natural. i also line the insides of my eyes, but thats definately not nessecary. i just get annoyed by the white areas above my lashes.

I couldn't agree more - I like Clinique. If you have a store that sells Clinique in your area, they are happy to do "free consultations" which are of course designed to sell you product. But it is a good way to get ideas and have someone show you techniques.

I dont wear much either, but when I do, I like the mineral powders instead of liquid base. that, a little blush, mascara and liner is all i ever wear.

and....less is more IMO when it comes to makeup.
And always moisturize your face after showering. (nothing expensive ) Dry skin is no good. Liner is a skill and sometimes not necessary if you are not comfortable. Make sure your eyeliner pencil is fairly soft, the harder ones are the ones that will make your eyes water. I usually don't like it because later in the day/evening it gets all balled up in the corner of my eye.
If your skin is clear and free of blemishes I personally would not put any foundation on. Sometimes just a little powder will do.
A little eye shadow (those duo/trio's are always good) and mascara and a little lipstick and you are good to go. Make it comfortable for you, otherwise you won't feel right.

goto your local salon/spa and have them show you what to buy and how to apply. They will have a wider selection and a better selection of products and will (should) be able to show you how much to apply.
will make it easier for you to spend some time / money now instead of guessing and feeling frustrated.
goodluck

Just 1 guys perspective....we couldn't care less about makeup on a woman.
Unless it's too much. Like Mimi from Drew Carrey.

Let your personality and charm be your makeup. And a low cut blouse doesn't hurt either.

Oh I'm gonna get so flamed now.

I don't wear more than mascara and light base called bareMinerals. It doesn't clog the pores and it's very natural looking. I don't have much time in my hands in the morning w/toddler twins in the house.
For cleaning my face I use Clinique products (love their 7 day scrub), moisturizer is by Kanebo. I've used that combination since 1990 and it works for me. My skin is very dry and sensitive.
For makeup... like I mentioned earlier, bareMinerals is the best base you can find. For the rest of the makeup, I'm no help

My Dad always said that less is more and I still believe that.

I use an Oil of Olay moisturizer right when I get out of the shower.
bare minerals is amazing!!!! you can buy it at target, sephora, ulta, bare essentials and online. I have the beginner kit for fair skin... it covers EVERYTHING and makes your skin look naturally flawless! the kit even comes with a DVD that shows you exactly how to put it on.
I also have the bare minerals beginner kit for eyeshadow, but I like using Estee Lauder liquid eyeliner the best as it stays on pretty much all day and doesn't run for me like cheapy liquid eyeliners do. The bare minerals beginner kit for eyes also comes with a instructional DVD.
I use Estee Lauder mascara only when I get it free with my eyeliner lol otherwise maybelline mascara is really good!
My favorite blush brand is Urban Decay, but they discontinued my favorite color,so I have been blushless for a long time. =( haha
I don't know if you've ever seen What Not to Wear on TV, but Carmindy the makeup artist has a book out called The 5 Minute Face and it has a lot of good little tips on how to get beautiful natural looks in under 5 minutes.

No need for a flame. It's true, a low cut blouse never hurt anybody unless you have nothing to show
then it's just nasty.

Just a couple of tips. Powders are not the friend of us more mature women. They tend to crease in lines and wrinkles and accentuate them. For using liner, get a pencil liner, put it right at the lash line and you can smudge it with a q-tip. Some drug stores have q-tips that are designed like eye make up applicators. And definately less is more. Some liquid base color, neutral eye shadow, a littler liner, mascara, lip gloss and you're good to go. It shouldn't take more than 5 minutes if that.
