Don't get a Chondro or a Emerald. They're mean, they're expensive, and they're tough to keep. Seriously.
There are reptile swaps here near Chicago that you can get pretty much anything, and when I was breeding Brazilian Rainbows I traded some of my babies for my Chondro. She's awesome but she doesn't do much. They're completely nocturnal and you don't take her out and handle her. There's a lot of other Boas and Pythons that make better pets. It's obvious that you have a passion for keeping these types of animals and that's great. I was the same exact way. But just wait a bit.
To properly keep a Chondro or an Emerald you're looking at about $1000 when you include the price of the snake.

Whitey...absolutely gorgeous snake! I was at a reptile show, in Daytona, FL a few months ago and the snakes I saw were incredible.
There were a few breeders/dealers that were selling different het species for as much as $25,000. I had to pick my jaw up off the floor a few times.

Where you at in Illinois?
There's a swap twice each month in Streamwood that's worth checking out if you're into reptiles.

And thanks for the comment on the snake.
The first pic is from about a year or so ago before she changed her color. Second one is more true to what she looks like now.

I owned a rat-snake once......lol (it did not die, i had to give him away to a friend when my mom could not bear the thoguht of having a snake within 50 feel of her any longer...lol) ( and i was just as happy with him, as i would be with a very expensive hard to keep snake) IMO
