Okay, im getting really interested in photography. Now, im teetering on the edge between a digital and a regular camera. The thing is, i need a camera to be abel to take motion pics as well as still pics. I need it to have a large amount of zoom, good picture quality, and needs to nsap pictures fast. I was looking along the lines of one of these: http://www.ritzcamera.com/webapp/wcs...uctId=13129503
Sprry for the long link. Anyway, i dont know what to look for in a camera when shopping for one, cuz i dont know what it all means. All I know is I need it to shoot fast, it needs to have good pics, has to have a good zoom, and just have to be worth the money. If anyone has any insight for me, id appreciate cuz i need a lot of help in this subject. If anyone has any for sale..lol, thanx

I was just looking around again at cameras, and this one popped up that looked real nice, and ive seen it b4. Its nice and small, just the perfect size in my opinion. Got a 10x optical zoom, nice screen display, etc. It's a Fujifilm FinePix S5100 4.0 Megapixel, tell me wat you think please!!! Thanx

Both cameras you mentioned are very nice....and either will allow a wide range of photography choices. I use a Canon G5 that is comparable to both. It all comes down to what you have to spend and what you want to photograph....try to researchcarefully and pick what suits your needs.

I dont know wat to look for, thats why im asking. Like, i dont know what megapixels are, or wat the shooting frame is. I like the fujifilm one cuz its small and such. Tell me, can it shoot fast and does it do action pix? If so, then thats definitely my camera.

I think as far as speed, all your good cameras will have similar settings. You just hafta know how to use them.
Other things to consider are...
Do you want one that will fit conveniently in your shirt pocket?? Or do you mind needing a carrying case?
Megapixels are resolution. When you blow up a normal photgraph to say... an 8X10, your pic quality gets "grainy".. A high resolution will avoid this. I have the Fugi Finepix S7000 and some of my pics can be blown up to poster size and maintain clarity. Useless feature if you ask me, but the hubby...he has this "get the best" complex, LOL.
Macro (close up shots) is what I personally was searching for. If you have a high resolution camera, then your digital zoom is kinda useless. Optical zoom is zoom as you know it. Digital zoom simply spreads out the pixels.

Ah yes, the s7000, next step up from my choice. Well, ive held this camera in my hands and it is quite comfotable, makes for a nice shot. Doesnt weigh too much, has a nice grip and a professional look to it. Im not in this just for my tank either, its also for outdoor shots, action shots, etc. Do you think you could maybe look at these settings and tell me if this shoots picture rapidly? http://fujifilm.com/JSP/fuji/epartne...ltype=overview
It says something about high speed continuous shooting, so i think that might be it. The s7000 looks good too, but not quite my style or budget, ya know? Thanx again guys

If you are serious about photography then the Canon Digital Rebel is a good buy. It doesn't do movies but it is an excellent camera.

Nikon doesn't make the Rebel...Canon does. It's part of their EOS line. Lenses aren't that expensive for SLR style digital cameras. Yes some of them can be in the thousand dollar range but those are high end glass. You can get a decent zoom (75mm-300mm) for less than $200.

I just got a Canon Powershot S60 for Christmas that is not bad for a camera less than $500. The Canon G5 is suppose to be a great camera also. The Canon I have allows you to take movies, adjust the shutter speed to a shot as qucik as 1/2000 of a second. Also has quite a few other adjustments such as white balance, aperature adjustment, manual focus, etc. It also has the ability to take a succession of shots quickly. Macro shots are not bad either. If your interested I can throw up a shot just to give you an idea.

I was at a walmart yesterday and this lady that tried to help smelled really badly of nasty fish. Totally confirms my stereotypes of indian people. Anyway, i think the s5100 or s7000 are for me. I gotta get the money and see how everything flows. Im gonna have to get another job for this one eh.
