Can a clam regrow its foot?

I found this on another forum:
my clam fell off its rock the other month and completely severed its foot muscle (you can probably find my old post about it with a search). A huge piece of muscle ripped off- and I thought for sure it was dead.
But... my clam never showed any signs of stress from the incident- and today has reattached itself to the rock and is doing great!
I have no idea otherwise.
Best wishes,
Kelly

with excellent water quality, there is a slim chance it can recover but infections usually set into clams with damaged foot muscles adn eventually kills the clam, I would put a chance of recovery around 15%. sorry I cant be more optimistic.

i agree with viper the threads can and will regrow. i unkowingling worked my clam loose from a spot (dont even remember why know) but it left some threads on the rock and it has fully recovered since a year later and still doing great. it also used to leave threads behind when it moved down my rockwork when it decided it wanted to be on the bottom where it currently resides
just remembered why i pulled it off tank upgrade

i would touch the shell or move by it to see if you get a reaction if you have a good filtration system it should be able to handle the death of a clam
