Can a clown host a toadstool coral without harm?

Hi, new to coral keeping, and have been looking at anemones, which I don't think I am a fan of due to their aggressive behavior. I was looking at beginner corals, and noticed the toadstool coral. I would like to know if a clown can successfully host one without doing harm to the clown itself, or the toadstool. Thanks

I had a couple that loved to wallow in my flower pot coral, the ones I have now host the tubes of my canister filters. I had clowns kill coral by trying to host it, the coral wouldn't come out and died.
Clowns don't always host the anemone even if you have one and I do by the way. I don't blame you for not wanting one they are a PITA.. If you like the clowns get them, and don't concern yourself with getting them to host anything.
If you only want a clown because it is cool to see them host...you may be very disappointed..many people are.

A clown can host just about anything in the tank, but it's up to them to decide what, if anything, they will host.
As a general rule, allowing a clown to host a coral is not a good idea, especially if it's the female that's hosting. Clowns usually beat corals to death while hosting.

Sometimes it depends on what kind of clown you get. I've never had any luck getting a percula to host my BTA, but I got a saddleback and it hosted my BTA after 2 days. From what I hear though, perculas usually arnt intrested in hosting anemones.

my mated pair of maroons did this, then it died so they thought it would be cool to host some hair algae, not kidding:)

However, a clown hosting a coral can certainly damage and/or kill a coral. This toadstool almost was killed by the clown. It is not a coral's natural role to host clowns.

really? how is this
The clown will just beat on it, treating it like an anemone. Clowns beat on what their hosting with their fins and tails. Eventually the polyps of the coral stop extending and the coral dies. This will happen 90% of the time a clown hosts a coral, sometimes it's quick, and sometimes it takes a long time, but it will happen. And have fun cleaning your water if it kills a leather in your tank (such as a toadstool) because it will be a disaster.

My clown has recently killed my bubble coral that he was hosting. He just kept beating it up. My first coral death since I returned to the hobby. That POS marroon clown just might have to go.

wow, i never knew this, the large toadstool leather in my profile pic was hosted by a mated pair of clowns and if that thing dies it would of been a major disaster

It depends on the clown, I've had percs host leathers without incident but I've got a large maroon that almost killed the leather. Just loved it too much I guess.
