Im looking to buy a protien skimmer for my aquarium. I have never had one before and found a sweet venturia (spelling??) skimmer.. one is for a 75gal, the other is for a 125 gal and were only talking 10.oo diffrence..
so im thinking is it better to just get the bigger one?
its about the same size diameter, but its taller!
what do ya'll think?

No, you can never get a skimmer too big, nor can you ever over-skim............JMO....:D

Some would disagree about the overskimming part. Skimming does remove excess protiens but it can remove plankton, rotifers, etc. of which are beneficial to your tank. Some people are doing away with skimmers in their system altogether! But for the most part for $10 go with the bigger skimmer. As most skimmers are overrated on their gallon capacity anyways.

Yeah, what kaOz said is true. But, just turn off the skimmer for several hours if you add phytoplankton or rotifers.
