Can a ritteri anemone handle another anemone?

Hi! I just bought a ritteri anemone for my 2 pink skunk clownfish. And I was wondering if I could put another ritteri or different anemone into my 12G Nanocube. I have Clarkii clownfish also, and I feel bad that they don't have an anemone. Especially since the Pink Clownfish kicked the Clarkii out. Here are some pictures to give you some idea on how big my anemone is.

let me get this straigh...you have four fish and an anemone in a 12g? you want another anemone because you feel bad that your clown doesnt have an anemone to live in?
Too many fish in that small of a tank...maybe 2 at the most...thats pushing it.
An anemone under what kind of lighting? probably what not is required right?
Clown fish of any kind do not need anemones to live happy lives.
dont buy any more anemones, im sure that one will be in the toilet in about a month or so...:(

I agree with carole on the two clowns issue. They will most likely fight and kill each other.

I have a fairly large ritteri anenome that has just split (going to move one of the split ritteri to another tank or give it to a LFS).
I believe that is a JBJ Nanocube, so it would be a 28 watt power compact 50/50 lighting. My anenome has been doing well with that lighting for sometime. [Correct me if I'm wrong].
I had a maroon clown and a percula clown that were doing fine together until my percula froze to death (but them getting along was not normal from what others tell me) [bought a heater afterwards].
Then again my entire population in my tank is kind of wacky :D So don't do what I am doing
waterfaller1 and aarone has some good advice :)

As a general rule I have heard not to mix clowns, but as the last guy said I've known people that had no problems w/ different species. Be very careful w/ mixing anemone species though. I had a bubble tip that moved all the way across my 60 gal. just to fight a different anemone I bought. This anemone had never moved before. Anyways the other anemone had a more powerful sting than my bubble. The bubble that once was as big as my hand only had 6 tentacles intact after the battle. I had to take the new guy back to the lfs and my bubble spent 8 months growing back to the size he was before.

the clarkii will most likely out grow the tank and I'd second the idea of getting another coral for hte clowns to host in and not an anemone. Hairy shrooms, xenia - something a little more appropriate!
I'd watch the life/health of the anemone - as when it dies it will pollute your cube pretty quickly. Not sure if 28 watts of PC is enough to keep it thriving (not my area of expertease) - but I wil state that most anemones thrive when placed into an established tank.
An anemone splitting could be seen as a last ditche effort to save itself (or part of itself)..... not just a sign that it is happy ....
I also posted on your other thread in the nano- section!
Welcome to the board and good luck.

I'll take your word for it. It just recently started splitting, but it is quite larger than when it was at the Display Tank of the LFS and has grown and split more tentacles. It has been eating extremely well [brine, krill, shrimp] so I didn't think that he was not doing to well. The anenome is also located in the tank where it will get the strongest amount of light.
I'll make sure to monitor my anenome as well.
I'm going to be changing my lights this week to 50watt 50/50 and 48w actnic. To meet the 4watts per gal recommendation. Would you say that would be good enough?

IMO no...the only light that an anemone will live the fullest extent that it an is metal halide....even a 50 watt MH and a 48w Mh would be better 10 fold over the pc fixture....its just that much more intense.

I am no anemone expert by any means and I think certain anemones need mroe light than Others (like riterii need intense light). All anemone's need food.
I have been researching my current set-up and initially I wanted an anemone. My brother is building out some aneomne breeding tanks (do a search for broncofish). He was working with some marine biologists (whose name slips my mind right now) who said - once you understand exactly why anemone's don't make good additions to your tank you are in a position to start thinking about adding one.
I do know I would not add a difficult to keep anemone to a tank that is under a year old ....
I also know several people who have kept riterri with great success.
Newbienz - keep feeding it but watch the colors - it should be a robust dark brownish color and not a white with puprle tips color ...
Like I said do some searchs and check out people who know a lot more about these critters than I do! Check out some healthy pictures as well!! Also do a search for my anemone died .... lots of those as well!
Good Luck
