can all damsels with stand cycle...such as the yellowtail?

Theres not really any good reason to cycle with Damsels in the first place.

Dear hobbyist,when cycling a salt water aquarium, use mollies,they're much cheaper than damsels. Just acclimate them slowly and they'll be fine. But keep in mind that the cycling time is the same .

There is no reason, whatsoever, to burn any fish's gills. Do you have live rock in the tank? You will want some sooner or later. Get some and let it cycle the tank.

Just use a piece of shrimp from the market to cycle, no need to stress a fish to near death to cycle

I would not use a fish to cycle a tank, it's basically cruelty to animals. A large cocktail shrimp (the kind we eat) works perfectly to kick start a cycle. That's what I used.

Don't cycle with a fish. Just purchase some raw shrimp and throw one or two chunks in there. It is cheaper (i know we are talking <3 dollars anyways) and you aren't killing a fish in the process. While any damsel will probably live through a cycle (very hardy fish), their lifespan will be greatly reduced. So while they may not die during the cycle, they will die a few years prior to when they should.

I am currently in the process of cycling my QT. And yes, to all you bleeding hearts, I DID use a fish...It was cheaper!! It was faster!!! It was BETTER!!!
It was also frozen...

That is my qt, and there was no freezer burn on mine. What kind of person do you take me for?? MIne are fresh frozen silversides.

And your deli shrimp was frozen just a couple days ago too.

Ohhhh ok well then I take it back... I just could stand the thought of you feeding your bacteria with freezer burnt frozen fish... I mean... jeeze the humanity of it all....
