I have a sand polyp and someting is growing in the middle of it.
it opens and closes .is it good or bad for the tank? THANKS!

That looks like a barnacle to me. I have a couplein my tank and have yet to cause any harm, of course I don't have any corals yet. :happyfish

Barnacles are hard, if it is soft im not sure what it is, sorry. Hopefully someone can tell you what it is, im interested now as well.

live barnicles and dead ones r diffrent i have some dead ones that will pose as homes for small fish, but it looks like a barnicle 2 me.
