Can Anyone Help With Microbubbles?

I have a 90 gallon tank that I started on Jan 4. We have constantly had a problem with micobubbles. We have a skimmer and have been adjusting it to try to eliminate them. The skimmer is on a level surface. Has anyone had this problem? :help:

I had this problem too.
How old is the skimmer to the tank?
If less then a week and a half, then it is most likely normal, but if not try adding more air to the flow.

Hope this helped

do you have a sponge for the discharge water to trickle down through to eliminate the bubbles? and what do you add to your tank regularly if anything?

Good point WHO DEY many declorinators with aloe for example will make the skimmer go nuts. A sponge or something as simple as a piece of netting helps with bubbles.

i added something to eliminate cyanobacteria and my skimmer went nutz with bubbles and had to unplug for a few days. Wondering about the sponge because it sounds like there have always been microbubbles in this tank and the sponge should polish the water nicely.

on the bottom right of my second picture you can see the sponge i'm talking about. The discharge water has about 12" of trickle down before it hits the waterline in the sump

have you unplugged the skimmer to make sure it is actually this skimmer causing the problem?? Just a thought?

the dicharge pipe from the skimmer goes directly through a hole in the chamber & trickes down the bio balls. it doesn't appear the bubbles are coming from that. any other sugg. thanks!!!

Do you have an internal or external pump for your sump. If external check your connection where your bulkhead is located sometimes it sucks air without leaking water. If internal might be low water level in sump where your pump creates a mini whirlpool allowing air to get to your pump. Hope that helps.

I just added my Octopus skimmer last night and having the same problem. The aerated water discharging back into the sump is so much; that the returns pump is sucking that water back into the tank. I think if the water level were higher in the sump this aerated water would raise higher than the pump intake. However, to do this, I will need to extend the partition in order to take on more water; properly.
