I just put 50lbs of Fiji LR in my tank last week and I've noticed this bubble like structure growing on one of the rocks. Any idea what it is? Is this bubble algae? If so, what do I need to do about it? There are 3 individual bubbles, the largest of which is about a half inch or so across.

I read advice on getting rid of these. It suggests removing the rock and using a screwdriver or some such instrument to dig the root out of the rock, as well as just removing the bubble.
It mentions that some inverts can be helpful, but only with the younger growths of the algae.

I had some very small bubble algae on my LR when I recieved it. I bought an emerald crab and he had a feast on it. Perhaps you may want to pick one up after you remove the huge pieces to control any additional growth.

Thanks for the help. This is gonna be a real pain in the butt. The algae is on my largest piece of rock, at the base of all my rockwork.... Figures.... :scared:

Oceana, I noticed you live in the burg. I am a rookie and I would love to know the LFS's you go to. Could you perhaps shoot me an email with some LFS info? heywade@tampabay.rr.com
