sorry i cant get a pic cuz my camera sucks and theyre waaaay to small to take a pic of anyways....a few days ago i was lookin in my tank..and i noticed these little white things on a discarded hermit shell...at first glance they appeared to be barnacles..but im almost positive theyre not...so i was thnkin at first how did barnacles get in my tank?!?!? but upon closer inspection i realized they are sumwhat spiral shaped..like a small white spiral shaper tube...barey bigger than the tip of a large needle...sum of them have little feather-like things coming out of them..so my next thought was some kind of tube worm or sumthing...if anyone has any idea of what they may be and if theyre good or bad...than theyre replies are very welcome..theyre starting to spread throughout my tank..so im gettin kinda worried..

They are just little tiny spiral feather worms, they grow on the back wall of tanks, on rocks and yes, on hermit crab shells.

They are beneficial. They bloom in newer tanks and will go away and as your tank becomes more established. I have them all over my tnak right now and on some of my hermit shells.

Well i say newer because usually new tanks have an excess of nutrients (or something like that from what i've been told). If your tank is over 6 months old look into what you are adding to the tank. Any additives or over feeding?
