Can I add another clown?

How long have you had your maroon? With a tank your size...depending on the behavior of your current maroon (what is his territory like in your tank), you may or may not want to do it. If he is bold, shy away. If he is pretty docile and agreeable with tankmates, you might be able to get away with adding one smaller than what you currently have.
I started out with 2 and ended up with one...they evidently weren't buddies!

Wait until he gets a lot bigger....maybe a year and then you can find one that is a lot smaller. If these fish are left unpaired for even a few weeks they will turn to female and from what I have read they cannot go back to being a male. They all start out as males as babies. When yours is about 4 inches or so go on a search for a marroon clown that is a tiny as you can get....like an inch or an inch and a half if possible. Tell your supplier that you want one that has just come from the ocean as a baby and not kept around long enough to turn female. Your bigger clown when he is 4 inches or so should accept a much smaller clown as not being a threat and to be a possible mate. The females are nearly always way bigger...like twice the size. If you put another in about the same size your clown will see it as a same -s ex-- (it delets this word if not left with a space) rival and will likely kill it. Good luck, Lesley
