Can I Add This?

I want to add a Royal Gramma, (Gramma loreto), but wasn't sure if I could. Currently my list of fish includes a Kole Tang, a Coral Beauty, 2 Common Clowns, 2 Purple Firefish, and a Mandarin in a year or so. I haven't gotten any fish, as I'm in the research stage, so let me know if you can think of any problems.

I know that they are very agressive. In my tank I have a hippo tang, slider goby, yellow tail damsel, kole tang, 2 percula clowns and domino damsel and the gramma leaves everyone alone. They are very territorial to a certain area in the tank though. Also you can not put another in the tank of that entire species (dottyback, gramma etc) or they will kill each other! So in my opinion you should be alright.

75G. I considered three and removing some others from my selection, but you have to get one large one, and two smaller ones, the likelihood of getting two females and a male is 80% greater this way, but that seemed like a lot of work, and I really like the other fish on my list.

Royal G's can sometimes be a bit territorial to smaller fish but I certainly would not consider them aggressive. Go for it and good luck.

I cannot see any big problem, the Gramma Loreto is a beautiful fish as Im sure you know, and I have one and has been anything but aggresive, I think there may be sedatives in my tank

Well, from what my LFS has told me, he suggests against it. He'd rather me keep the fish on my list, and scrap the Gramma. I guess it's out then. Thanks for the help.

These fish are vry beautiful and not territorial from my experience.

My Gramma wasn't aggressive at all. He was harrased to death by my damsel who is now gone. R.I.P.Royal Gramma.....But Demo,I'd say RG's aren't really aggressive unless kept with more passive fish,altough it may bother you're firefish and possibly you're clowns,I'd say go for it!

probably would not be a problem, except for with your firefish.

I have had them, I have ff as well, but not in the same tank, and I do not think from what I ahve witnesed I would ever keep the 2 species together. BUT< I do like your list otherwise, it sounds very doable.As well as nice, to me.

I agree, jsut aht firefisha re soooooooooooo much more passive
grammas, IMEO are not generally outwardly aggressive though.

I never knew royal grammas were that agressive. I have kept them with firefish twice in 2 different setups and never experienced a problem. Royal Grammas like their own little niche in the reef and tend to leave all others alone and vise vera to other non-aggressive fish. This is just my experience and I thought I would share it with you.

I would take the consensus opinion from this board before just about any LFS. I vot eto add the RG. All s/b fine.
I must say that the LFS' opinion seems genuine . Nice to see that some are. Good luck.
