Can I break up a large lr?

I got 2 lg lr from lfs, but I can't position them where they look good. One is just too big and can't do anything with it. Would it be ok to break it with hammer, or would that cause some of the life in rock to damage?
Any opinions would be appreciated.

Use a hammer, smash it in a washtub. Wear gloves if your touching it, you dont wanna get stung by anything. Ive done it plenty of times.

I put mine in a thick trashbags and drop them on concrete. Breaks em up pretty good.

Both work great, if you are looking for a more calculated break point use a screwdriver or chisel with a hammer

I used a trash bag as well when I was breaking up lr for my sump. Worked great!!
