Can I have an anemone under 110w pc? I've had a maroon clown for the past 5 years and he has been without one for about 3. on my old 58 I only had 192w of pc lighting and i had a bta that split and lived a very long time until i let my parents take care of the tank when i went over seas to study abroad. I recently moved my tank from a 58 gallon to a 34 redsea max. it has 110w pc. Is there any anemone that would be ok for my maroon under this lighting? The redsea site states they are t5 compact fluorescent bulbs. Which I still don't understand. the link to the specs on their site is here http://www.redseamax.com/redseamax/2...specs130D.html
If not this is a stretch but have you heard of anyone retrofitting a RSM for different lighting.

The lights on the RSM are t-5's but they are not HO t-5's, nor are they individually reflected. I have seen a BTA live under the RSM lights for quite a while. Would I recomend it? No I wouldnt, but there is at least one sucess story I know of personally. In this particular scenario the anemone is about 5" below the lights and hosts a pair of cinnamon clowns.
If you are wanting to upgrade the RSM lights I would look into changing the ballast to perhaps an ice cap and over drive some HO-T5's even without them being individually reflected they would work for this application IMO. You wouldnt have to rewire anything because you would already have the connectors for t-5's in your hood already. And if Im not mistaken the ballast for them is external. HTH.
